Aguiar cerámica is a small artisanal workshop located in Carmona, province of Seville. In it, Magaly Barbosa and Diego Bermúdez, two passionate individuals about nature and craftsmanship, create functional and decorative pieces with simple forms and a marked character. To achieve this, they use a mixture of various types of stoneware and porcelain clays, and their own production glazes, mostly made with wood ash, feldspar, and clays.
Unique handmade pieces
Unique handmade pieces on the wheel, one by one, without haste, without exact measurements or shapes, similar but different. The mixture of stonewares and porcelains they are made from is mostly covered with a white engobe, and after firing the piece at 980°C, a wood ash glaze is applied and fired again, this time at 1280°C in a reducing atmosphere. The high temperature makes them extraordinarily resistant, and the reduction highlights the character of the clay through the engobe and the glaze with an unrepeatable iron stain pattern. This laborious process allows the creation of unique ceramic pieces to enjoy every day with sight and touch, because through this process the character and uniqueness that the artisan’s hands imprint on each of them can be perceived.
